Bequest

Through these services, DeafSA assist people who are Deaf or hard of hearing from a variety of backgrounds (including people from Indigenous communities and people from culturally diverse backgrounds). You can help DeafSA to continue providing these life important services by making a donation or a bequest..

A bequest or legacy is simply a gift in your Will - a memento or sum of money you want to leave to a friend, your Church, or a favourite charity like the DeafSA. Such a consideration could give us the chance to help Deaf people to lead a useful and independent life.

The services provided by DeafSA are unique, practical and have resulted in being recognized for our services in excellence in the provision of:

SASL (South African Sign Language) interpreting
Community access and information services
Outreach
Education and training
Advocacy
Independent living skills
Employment services

Discount on estate tax
Bequests made to the DeafSA are allowed as a discount according to and liable to the stipulations of Article 4(h) (i) and (ii) of the Estate Tax Law (Law 45 of 1955) when calculating estate tax.

How to manage a bequest
You may leave a specific amount, a percentage or the remainder of your estate to DeafSA. Please consult your attorney or a bank official for assistance with this.

Add the following codicil to your Will:

I bequeath the amount of R________, or property, percentage of the estate or remainder to DeafSA, Private Bag X04, Westhoven, 2142.

Contact us to inform us of a bequest to enable us to thank you.

Donations

In order to make our much-needed services and training affordable and accessible to those most in need, we - from necessity - have to rely on donations to help subsidize the immense costs carried by DeafSA.

Deduct your donations from tax

Donations made to DeafSA are tax deductible according to the regulations of the Article 18(a) Tax Revenue Law (Act 58 of 1962).
